Jacqueline Sanderson

Tax Consultant & Business Advisor

A seasoned tax consultant specializing in tax planning, corporate reorganizations, and tax contestations, including notices of reassessment, objections, and voluntary disclosures. With over thirty years of experience, she has worked in the tax departments of two national law firms and three of the Big Four accounting firms.

Education & Background

Jacqueline holds a Bachelor of Commerce with a major in Accounting and a minor in Finance, a Bachelor of Civil Law, and a Bachelor of Common Law from the University of Sherbrooke. Her background unites the disciplines of law, accounting, and business strategy — a combination essential for effective tax work.

Areas of Expertise

Corporate and personal tax planning
Estate freezes and succession planning
Butterfly reorganizations & spin-offs
Rollovers under sections 85 and 86
Post-mortem planning
Capital gains exemption optimization

She also assists clients in keeping their companies "clean" to maintain eligibility for the Lifetime Capital Gains Exemption (LCGE) and to facilitate future business sales or inter-generational transfers.

Professional Approach

Jacqueline's approach is rooted in a deep understanding of both tax law and accounting principles. Since corporate taxation begins with accounting income from the financial statements, accurate planning requires mastery of the accounting foundations and the legal framework governing corporate transactions.

Litigation Experience

In addition to her extensive tax background, Jacqueline has more than fifteen years of experience in civil, commercial, and criminal litigation, a skillset that enhances her ability to contest complex tax matters and develop sound, defensible strategies.

Continuous Professional Development

To stay at the forefront of her field, Jacqueline is currently updating her accounting studies at McGill University. While not a lawyer or a chartered accountant, she possesses a broad and integrated understanding of both professions, allowing her to provide clients with exceptionally comprehensive and practical tax solutions.
